OK, so for fathers day, I am trying to make a shadow box of my dad's cadet years. However, I am still missing some things. First off, I need to get The highest cadet rank that was sewn on (MSgt maybe?). I also need some old ribbons (the plastic ones), but I have to double check which ones. Can't find anything on E-Bay, so this was the next logical place  . So any help would be appreciated.

Friend, I think that short of having a pal in a museum or Korea, it'll be hard to get the real deal or have duplicates made up.

There was a bunch of that stuff on ebay the other day. Make sure you tell it to check titles AND descriptions.

What a terrific idea!

In addition to the old-style stripes and plastic ribbons, don't forget the old-style breast badges (either metal or sew-on, depending on when your dad was in), CAP cutouts, and an old-style nameplate.

If he wore them, that rocketry badge, solo wings, etc are always nice, as well as the old Leadership Shoulder Insignia (LSI).

And of couse a shoulder cord or two, but remember the colors have changed several times.

It's a shame really that CAP doesn't issue some sort of "DD214" so that anyone could read it and generate an appropriate shadow box.

Do you have any old pictures of him in "maximum bling" mode?

And for the shadow box, USAA has some good ones, and AAFES does as well.

Now if I could only get my kids to remember to at least get me a card.

I had a bunch of stuff around here, but darned if I can find it now.

I think I have a plastic covered Doolittle, you're welcome to it. Doubt it can get to you in time for Father's Day, however.

Yes, I have realized that this will be a rather "delayed" father's day gift, but it will be done sometime (hopefully not to long). I still need to route through some of his old stuff to know exactly what he had, and it's not easy either.

Good colonel? Which one? This thread is ancient. You just made a three and a half year bump!
