Please join me in congratulating C/Major Evan Salisbury of the Amarillo Tigershark Composite Squadron of Texas Wing for his winning article submission in the CadetStuff scholarship contest.
In December, I offered $100 to the cadet who submitted the most awesome article for CadetStuff.org to publish. We were overwhelmed with awesome submissions from cadets all over the country. Many of those articles were really outstanding examples of the creativity and professionalism we can expect from our cadets, and I would like to sincerely thank each cadet who stood up and sent in an article for review. Even if you didn't win, you can expect to see your article published in coming editions of CadetStuff.
Cadet Salisbury's article won because it was an example of good writing that I found both entertaining and informative on a topic that should be relevant to all cadets: Combat Control Orientation Course! Anyone who knows me knows that special activities and Special Tactics are both near and dear to my heart and Cadet Salisbury did them both justice with his article.
There was some delay in this announcement partly because my employer sent me on a short notice "business" trip to sunny Florida to help our neighbors in Haiti, and partly because I wanted to give the CCOC staff a chance to review the article before I took this public. With the blessing of Lt Col Siemiet and the CadetStuff editors, you can expect to read the winning article on the CadetStuff main page shortly. I also look forward to presenting Cadet Salisbury's prize in the very near future. I also encourage any CAP members involved with public affairs to help distribute the article and the news of the scholarship as an example of cool things our members are doing.
I feel this scholarship contest was a great success and I look forward to running another one in the coming months. Stay tuned to the CadetStuff.org forums for more details.
Respectfully,
Capt JamesN
